Fun Fact : Austin has the largest urban bat colony in North America.
Well, what best way to start off the texan lifestyle than with a proper Texas Barbecue in a real hot spot in Austin – the green Mesquite BBQ.
In every place you have to play the god old tourist but we were very lucky to have some friends in Austin, who could show us around some not so obviously touristy stuff at least not at the first sight. With so many cities and towns on our list it is tough to do an in depth research of every place you want to visit. So having people around in some places took some load off of this. And gosh we were not disappointed. How grateful we are to be shown around by some locals who know the city inside out. So first place on our list
TEXAS OLD TOWN – from saloon to guns. Girls are back in town. All i need are some cowboy boots. And a horse. Oh, how i would love a horse.
If you need some hot sauces go to the. Plenty to choose from and if you are unsure, you can try ALL of them! No promise though, that you make it out of there alive but hey 🙂 Carpe diem.
On of my favorite and most surprising parts was the Jourdan-Bachman Pioneer Farms in Austin.
Welcome to 1800 Texas, ya`ll! Step back in time to the 1800s. They are offering workshops and classes so you can learn new skills as in the good old times. How beautiful to preserve Texas for generations to come.
Amazing place – if you are ever in Austin, this is a must see. A real time machine event.
And i finally saw a Texas Longhorn 🙂
Oil fields, Oil fields everywhere surrounded by this beautiful sunset. Gosh, things I only saw on TV – until now. I never imagine Texas to be so cool. I mean I didn’t expect it to be uncool I just never occupied myself so much with it. There was always New York and LA next to several other spots of course, but somehow not this wonderful place. And thank goodness we made it to Austin. Never thought I would enjoy it so extremely much and find so very interest in it. There is so much to do and to so and I am not surprised Austin is the place to be. You feel the kindness of strangers, the energy that surrounds this beautiful place.
Must Try FOOD Tipps for you!
Torchy´s !!!! Best Tacos I have had yet! Damn good ones. The best! Really delicious. I mean wow!
Round Rock Donuts – also the best Donuts I have had yet. Yammy yammy I want more in my tummy. So incredible tasty maple coated sugary round snack surrounded by this old western movie location. It seems like I entered a movie set. Round Rock – check this city near Austin out
The Oasis! Nachos, Margaritas or maybe just a light salad? Not a Problem. And off we go to the Oasis. Another place that surprised the heck out of me. Just next to Lake Travis. Dining with a magical view. What else do you need?
After trying all of the above it is hard to have a live without these… 😉 Maybe I start a Blog life after Torchy´s 😛
Have a lookout for my next Blog post on our drive to Albuquerque. Spoiler alert – we are going to Roswell, New Mexico. Yes, we will be the brave ones and conquer the outer space world. Maybe one can adopt an Alien in Roswell!?
